PROGRAMMABLE DEVICE
PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC)
REPORT WRITING
This is Omron type of PLC used in the
equipment enclosures. I have managed to program this PLC before doing function
testing. The main programme is entitled to safety with respect to point
machines, and train detection monitored on the LCP (Local Control Point).
LOADING PROGRAM
- I plugged the USB cable to the computer and PLC.
- I opened the Omron PLC progrmme and wait for about 30 seconds for the respond.
- The screen shown below popped up and I selected object ID to change the binary value using the last two decimal values of the IP address on the equipment enclosure. Each equipment enclosure has a unique ID and function to the points being controlled and the track being monitored.
- Since these enclosures were monitored by LCP, the communication between the two was carried by the Ethernet switch. Each PLC had its unique IP address this is used by the switch to identify each one of them.
- So at this stage I had to change the IP address of the PLC in reference to the serial number of the enclosure. I clicked on the icon written system tools and the above window was displayed.
- I downloaded the programme to the PLC and after verify to check if the programme is loaded without any errors. I locked the PLC and to do this I was prompted a password in order to secure PLC.
- I changed the mode of operation of the PLC in order to be able to complete the programme.
- I disconnected the USB cable from the PLC and recycle power to see if the programme was loaded properly.
EPROM
ARM7 MICROCONTROLLER
The AT91SAM7A3 is a member of a series
of 32-bit ARM7™ microcontrollers with an integrated CAN controller. It features
a 256-Kbyte high-speed Flash and 32-Kbyte SRAM, a large set of peripherals,
including two 2.0B full CAN controllers, and a complete set of system functions
minimizing the number of external components. The device is an ideal migration
path for 8-bit microcontroller users looking for additional performance and
extended memory.
LOADING PROGRAM
- I have used the programme called SAM_BA to load the bin file to the microcontroller.
- I had to connect the USB cable from the computer to the card to power up the microcontroller, connect the JTAG cable to allow me to load the bin file
- I selected the connection type from the JLINK settings and also the board type.
- I selected the bin file from the folder and after disconnect the JTAG cable.
- The LEDS flash to show the program is loaded correctly.
COMPLETION OF FORMS
LEAVE FORMS
- During my training I have managed to fill the leave form which require the following:
- My surname
- My First names
- My Position
- Department
- And state the type of leave, starting date of the leave, ending date of the leave and number of working days
- Attach my signature and date
I
have also managed to fill up the time sheet, every Friday I received a time
sheet which was used as a record to see what I was doing the whole week and I
had to fill up :
·
My name and surname
·
My number
·
Time taken on each task
·
The last column
consists of overtimes if I have taken any
REPORT WRITING
FAULT REPORTS
I
have used this form when repairing bolometer sensors and populating , I had to
fill up the:
·
Date and my name
·
State if the equipment
is being repaired or its new
·
I stated the name of
the equipment
·
I described the type of
fault found
·
I identified and
written the component responsible for the fault
·
I wrote the serial
number of the equipment
TEST RESULTS
When
I was testing bolometer sensor I had to record the temperature values with
reference to voltage. Using temperature recording sheet I had to:
·
Write the serial number
of the equipment
·
I with reference to the
change in temperature I recorded the output voltage.
·
I had to state my name
·
And also the date I
carried out the test
